DJs:

Lung-Kuei has attracted both envy and affection throughout the tango community. The men want to dance like him, and the women like to dance with him. His immersion in the tango world has been a happy success.
An integral part of the U.S. tango scene, he runs off to the best festivals across the country with tremendous zeal. As a result, he’s one of the more sought-after leaders in the country, and has also developed a keen sensitivity toward what makes a milonga go well. Although his dancing is already very clean and quite musical, he’s constantly working to make it more musical, more precise, and more lovely for his partner. His most influential teachers have been Rebecca Shulman, Robin Thomas, Evan Griffiths, Diego Di Falco, and Silvina Valz.
Lung-Kuei started studying tango in 2005 and began deejaying in 2007. Gradually he built a solid reputation as a deejay and now he’s invited to spin tunes at the most popular and best milongas and practicas in town. Tango festivals fly him in to DJ. His choices are not strange: he just plays one good song after another, placed in sequence with sensitivity.
Lung-Kuei has zero attitude about what he does well, and always keeps a sense of humor about things, while remaining a serious milonguero, 100% dedicated to the craft, the life, and the music of tango.

Cem, originally from Izmir – Turkey, has met with with fabulous rhythms of Tango in his early ages and enhanced his Tango skills with both Turkish and Argentinean masters. With the great passion and dynamism of the music he started Djing in Asia and Turkey. He prefers to select different tracks according to the crowd and the event he is playing for. Mostly he is well known for his tandas that inspire dancers and make them move with a connection to the rhythm of the music.
In his lists he prefers starting with some smooth tracks for saloon style and close embrace enthusiasts from D'Arienzo, Biagi, DiSarli, Canaro and Tanturi. Later in the night, those carefully selected tracks are followed by harder and more dramatic tunes from De Angelis and Pugliese. And of course rhythmic vals and cheerful milonga tandas not to be forgotten. Also depending on the crowd mood he is never shy to add some surprise nuevo tracks to rise the energy level of the stage and milongueros.

Richard Lai is a traditional tango DJ.  He started tango in 2003 and began deejaying in 2007 when he ran a weekly milonga in a bar in Lan Kwai Fong, the famous bar area in Hong Kong.  Since then, he DJs for various organizers at practicas and milongas ranging a dozen of people to over hundred of dancers, and played over hundreds of gigs in a few years’ time.  He now runs the popular Milonga Sentimental every Friday night, with himself as resident DJ and inviting guest DJs to play music for guests from time to time.

In 2010, on his repeated business trips to Shanghai , while working daytime, he never missed the change to go tango dancing at night, and he also DJed at different milongas as well.  Very soon he gained popularity among the Shanghai tango community and it is the first time in 2011 he returns to Shanghai to DJ for his friends.

Olive & Hons are two of the latest generation of Hong Kong tango dancers and DJs. Inspired by a visit to Buenos Aires, they have built a reputation in Hong Kong as a DJ-couple with exquisite musical taste. Hosts of Sunday afternoon’s popular High Tea Milonga, they have also DJed for Taipei Tango Festival in 2010 and 2011, and Hong Kong Tango Festival in 2010. The couple is enthusiastic about pursuing their research interest in integrating vintage and modern sound technologies, attempting to bring out the original taste of golden age tango recordings.

Cheers,
